Things To Do At Night Near Pearl Harbor

Visiting Pearl Harbor to pay your respects to those who lost their lives during the attack 75 years ago is certainly a day out that you’ll never forget. Whether you spend a few hours there, or a full day, you’re guaranteed to walk away with a new insight into the devastation that happened here during World War II.

If you visited in the afternoon, you might be looking for some things to do as the sun goes down and night falls on the harbor. Although Pearl Harbor itself closes its gates to the public at 5:00 PM, there are things you can do nearby that will take your day’s adventures right into the night. Here are our top picks:

1. If it’s a Friday, enjoy the fireworks over Waikiki. Find a spot near the western end of Waikiki Beach and watch a free 10-minute fireworks show at 7:45 PM.
2. Visit the Bishop Museum Planetarium, which has a range of laser light shows on Friday and Saturday nights.
3. Head to the nearby Pearlridge Center for some night shopping. The center is open until 9:00 PM Monday to Saturday (6:00 PM on Sundays).
4. Make the trip from Pearl Harbor to Diamond Head State Monument where you’ll experience stunning views of the sunset.
5. On a Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday night, enjoy a sunset torch lighting ceremony and hula show at Kuhio Beach Park. It's right near the beach and the best part is, it's free.
