Tips for Your Inter-Island Pearl Harbor Tour
If you’re staying on a Hawaiian island other than Oahu and want to visit Pearl Harbor; trying to coordinate flights and tours might at first glance seem like too much of a hassle to even attempt. In fact, we make it really simple. Regardless of whether you're staying on Maui, Kauai, or the Big Island of Hawaii, you can participate in an inter-island Pearl Harbor tour, with flights and pick-up at Honolulu International Airport included. Though you likely flew many hours to get to your Hawaiian destination, flights between the islands are all well under an hour in duration, leaving plenty of time for an in-depth exploration of Pearl Harbor.
In order to ensure you get the most out of your day, we've put together the following tips for your inter-island Pearl Harbor tour.
It’s the Same as a Normal Flight
You may think that just because you’re just hopping between islands that there may be fewer restrictions. That's not the case. Flights between the Hawaiian Islands are subject to the same government regulations that apply to all other flights within the United States. That means you must present your government-issued photo ID to board your flight.
Since that’s the case, when you're booking your inter-island Pearl Harbor tour, you need to make sure the name on your reservation matches your ID exactly. If there is any difference between the two, it may cause a delay or even prevent you from boarding your flight.
Inter-island flights are also subject to all of the standard TSA restrictions regarding what you can and cannot bring on board.
You’re on a Fixed Schedule
An inter-island Pearl Harbor tour packs a lot into one day. While there is plenty of time for you to see everything listed on your tour itinerary, there isn’t time for you to explore the rest of Oahu after the tour.
Making Your Way to Your Originating Airport
Inter-island Pearl Harbor tours include your flights and ground transportation on Oahu, but transportation to and from your originating airport is not included. Make arrangements to get to the airport in plenty of time to get through security.
Don’t Travel with Bags
Pearl Harbor has a no bags policy in place. If you bring a bag of any size that offers concealment, it will need to be stored at the bag check near the entrance to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. There is a $5 per bag storage fee.
Dress Comfortably
Wear clothing that is comfortable for flying and walking. Keeping the historical significance of Pearl Harbor in mind, you should also dress respectfully, meaning no swimsuits or inappropriate t-shirts. Since you'll be doing a fair amount of walking, be sure to wear comfortable shoes. And don't forget sunscreen!
A visit to Pearl Harbor is a highlight of any Hawaii vacation, and even if you're staying on a different island, you can easily experience this historic site.
